Late afternoon arrival in Israel to be met and assisted by your ITC representative at Ben Gurion International Airport. Transfer to Tel Aviv for hotel check-in and welcome dinner.

Tuesday, 29 December - Foundations of the Modern State
Walking tour of Old Jaffa, the port city from which Jonah the Prophet fled to the sea and the ancient gateway to Eretz Yisrael. At Independence Hall, relive Ben Gurion's moving declaration of the State. In the fascinating Palmach Museum follow the virtual trail of a unit of soldiers that fought for Israel's independence. Free time to walk around the Nahalat Binyamin arts and crafts fair and see modern Tel Aviv in action

Wednesday, 30 December - Ascent to Jerusalem
Climb down into the amazing underground, pre-State bullet factory built by the Haganah under the noses of the British at the Ayalon Institute. Spend time today in an Israeli home as you visit with Rabbi Altshuler's family at Karmei Yosef. At Emmaus see remains of a 5th Century church built at the site where Jesus appeared to two of his disciples after the Resurrection. Visit the Latrun IDF Armored Corps center, review (or climb on) the tanks and to learn about battles fought there for the road to Jerusalem (time permitting) Ascent to Jerusalem - Hotel check-in

Thursday, 31 December - In Holy Footsteps
Take in a breathtaking view of the Old City of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives. Drive around the Old City Walls to the Garden of Gethsemane and visit the Basilica of the Agony. Proceed along the Kidron Valley for a panoramic view of the Tomb of Absalom and the Monument to Zechariah, the Russian Church of Mary Magdalene. On Mount Zion, visit the Tomb of David and the Room of the Last Supper. Visit Jerusalem of King David's time as you walk through recently-excavated finds in David's City In the Kotel Tunnels, walk alongside the massive foundation stones of the Western Wall.

Friday, 1 January - Those Who Sacrificed
Visit the Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Children's Memorial at Yad Vashem. Visit the new Shrine of the Book and the Second Temple Model of Jerusalem at the Israel Museum. Walk through colorful, bustling Machaneh Yehuda open-air market as Jerusalem prepares for the Sabbath Shabbat dinner at the hotel.

Shabbat, 2 January - Sabbath Day in Jerusalem and Bethlehem
Optional Shabbat services at Shira Hadasha (if available) This afternoon, explore the wonderful fortress that houses the Jerusalem Museum at the Tower of David for a rich overview of the history of Jerusalem throughout the ages; we continue our walking tour through the Armenian and Moslem Quarters and then along the Via Dolorosa, including the Church of St. Anne and the Pool of Bethesda, to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, including the rooftop Coptic Village Afternoon excursion to Bethlehem to visit the Church of the Nativity.

Sunday, 3 January - In the Footsteps of Patriarchs and Matriarchs
Early morning service at a Jerusalem Methodist Church. Depart for Gush Etzion, traveling along the Path of the Patriarchs. Learn about the history of the defense of Gush Etzion in a moving multi-media presentation at Kibbutz Kfar Etzion. Lunch followed by a program of Christian-Jewish Dialogue, Part I at the Efrat Retreat Center, led by the Center for Jewish- Christian Understanding and Cooperation. Continue south to the holy city of Hevron for a tour of the Cave of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs. Dinner at the hotel.

Monday, 4 January - The Negev Desert
At Tel Sheva, the best example of what we imagine a biblical well to be, review biblical courtship scenes that took place at wells. Visit the fascinating Jo Alon Center for Bedouin Culture near Lahav for an in-depth introduction to this desert culture and some Bedouin hospitality. Enjoy a guided exploration of the ancient city of Sussya, where biblical, mishnaic, and talmudic texts come to life. Travel north, returning to Efrat dinner and for Part II of our Christian-Jewish dialogue meeting at the Efrat Retreat Center.

Tuesday, 5 January - Freedom Fighters or Fanatics?
Depart for the Dead Sea Region and pause to gaze upon Bethany, once home to Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. Ascend by cable car to Masada. Tour this impressive excavation and discuss the terrible dilemma faced by its Jewish population during Roman times. Enjoy a walk through the beautiful Ein Gedi Nature Reserve and review the biblical story of kings David and Saul "on site" Visit the excavation of Kumran, home of the mysterious ancient sect that authored the Dead Sea scrolls. Stop for a dip in the amazing Dead Sea (time permitting)

Wednesday, 6 January - Galilee Holy Places
Early departure to travel north through the Jordan River Valley along the border with Jordan. Continue north to the ancient Caperneum Synagogue, where Jesus performed many miracles on the shores of Lake Kinneret Visit Tabgha, the traditional site of the miracle of fish and loaves, and the Church of Multiplication with its 4th Century mosaic floor. At the Mount of Beatitudes, visit the unique heptagonal church on the site of the Sermon on the Mount. See the first century "Jesus boat," excavated from Lake Kinneret at Kibbutz Ginnosar, and hear its fascinating story Hotel check-in and dinner

Thursday, January 7, 2009 - Tiberias and the Golan Heights
Drive to the Banias Spring and Waterfall, where Jesus was recognized as the Messiah by His Disciples and the gate through which Abraham entered the Promised Land. Travel to the Golan Heights and gaze down over the Galilee from Tel Faher, as the Syrians once did. Enter former Syrian bunkers and learn how master spy, Eli Cohen, revealed their secrets. At Kibbutz El Rom, see original footage from the brave Valley of Tears Kahalani battle, which secured the Golan Heights during the Yom Kippur War. Ascend to the peak of Har Bental, where you can enter army bunkers and take in a panoramic view at the crossroads of three countries Enjoy a St. Peter's Fish dinner at Kibbutz Ein Gev, followed by a Sea of Galilee boat cruise to Tiberias
