Early arrival in Israel, to be met and assisted at Ben Gurion airport by
your ITC representative. Put down roots in Israel immediately as you
plant a tree in Israeli soil in honor or in memory of a loved one
Ascent to Jerusalem. Gaze upon the Old City from the Tayelet, as did
Abraham when he prepared to sacrifice Isaac; make the sheheyanu
blessing and take in the breathtaking view

| Thursday, 3 July - Jerusalem of Old I Rosh Hodesh Tammuz
|
Tour David's City, the most ancient section of Jerusalem, built by King
David, including the recently excavated Spring Tunnel. Explore the
Southern Wall Excavations and take a virtual, computerized "walk"
through the Temple Mount at the Davidson Center. Travel through many
centuries in a guided tour of the Jewish Quarter, including entrance to
the Herodian Mansions. In the Kotel Tunnels, walk alongside the Western
Wall's massive foundation stones. Enjoy a Dine-Around Dinner at a choice
of lovely Jerusalem restaurants

| Friday, 4 July - Freedom Fighters or Fanatics? II Rosh Hodesh Tammuz
|
Early departure to ascend the mountain fortress of Masada by cable car
for a moving Bar/Bar Mitzvah service. Then tour this amazing excavation
and discuss the terrible dilemma faced by its Jewish population during
Roman times. Enjoy a walk through the beautiful Ein Gedi nature reserve
and review the biblical story of kings David and Saul that took place
there "on site". Stop for a dip in the amazing Dead Sea (Mineral Beach)
Return to Jerusalem to prepare for Shabbat
Kabbalat Shabbat as a group in an Old City courtyard, followed by
ma'ariv at the Kotel (or at a synagogue of your choice) Delicious Shabbat
dinner at the hotel

Optional Shabbat services at a synagogue of your choice (suggestions,

during Bible times (accompanied by youth educator)
Visit the recently opened Herzl Museum, where the Father of Modern
Zionism is "brought to life" before your eyes. Walk through colorful,

| Monday, 7 July - Foundations of the Modern State
|
At Independence Hall, relive Ben Gurion's moving declaration of the
State. Walk though the historic Neve Tzedek neighborhood, a UNESCO
Heritage site. Enjoy an extremely impressive presentation of the amazing
achievements of the Palmach at the new multi-media Palmach Museum (if
available) OR Climb down into the amazing underground, pre-State bullet
factory built by the Haganah under the noses of the British at the
Ayalon Institute in Rehovot. Return to Jerusalem for a free evening.

| Tuesday, 8 July - Layers of History - Depart for Israel's north
|
Walk through the fascinating, underground Roman water system that once
fed ancient Caesaria at Alona Park near Binyamina (strap-on water shoes
needed) See ancient history come to life at the newly-opened multimedia
center, against the backdrop of ancient Caesaria. Excavations
include an impressive amphitheatre and aqueduct. Take in a magnificent
view of the Jezreel Valley at Mukhraka-Keren HaCarmel, where Elijah
the prophet faced off against the prophets of Ba'al

|
Travel to the Golan Heights by jeep, off the beaten track, and stop to
gaze down over the Galilee, as the Syrians once did. Glide down the
Jordan River in a kayak. In-depth of tour the synagogues, courtyards,
and shops of the mystical city of Tzefat; optional family/kids' crafts
activity (weaving, beading, paper-making, pottery) available in Tzefat's
artist colony while others enjoy more shopping time. Enjoy a gourmet dinner
in a private home at the Bar-El Family Restaurant in Tzefat

| Thursday, 10 July - The Jordan River Valley and Into the Desert -
|
Depart for Israel's southern region. Optional: Brief stop at Mount Tavor
to review the story of Deborah the Judge and Warrior "on site"
Travel south along Israel's newest highway, with a view of the Security
Fence along the way. At the "Dig for a Day" program at Beit Guvrin,
uncover actual artifacts as you participate in an ongoing archeological dig.
Spelunking (cave crawling) also available for the adventurous. Visit
Israel's Airforce Museum near Beersheva to view the planes and equipment
and to hear the story of this brave fighting force

Depart for Eilat, stopping to gaze into the other-worldly Ramon Crater,

to this desert culture (includes coffee/snack in a Bedouin tent)
Moshav Nevatim, home to Cochini Jews from India, visit their impressive
synagogue, brought over from India, and their small ethnic museum
Black Hebrews ("Haivri'im Hayisraeli'im") of Dimona, to hear about their
dreams and their struggle to integrate into Israeli society
Enjoy a wonderful family desert archery activity in the Ramon Crater

|
Tour the Underwater Observatory, one of the largest seaquariums in the
world, built into a coral reef. Board a luxury touring yacht at the Eilat
marina for a leisurely cruise and lunch on the Red Sea. Snorkeling equipment
is available for those who would like to get "up close and personal"
with the most exquisite coral reefs and tropical fish to be found in the
world. Enjoy some additional free time this afternoon (from about 2 pm)
for Eilat leisure activities, including swim with the dolphins, etc.
