Morning arrival (ideally) at Ben
Gurion Airport to be met by your ITC representative (today's activities
depend on arrival time) Experience a biblical agriculture workshop
at Neot Kedumim, including such possible hands-on workshops as goatherding,
making olive oil, etc; plant a vine there in Israeli soil. Check
into the hotel, rest, Mediterranean swim. Welcome dinner at Maganda
Yemenite Restaurant.

| Tuesday, 14 July - Foundations of the Modern State
|
Group may split: Climb down into the amazing underground, pre-State
bullet factory built by the Haganah under the noses of the British at
the Ayalon Institute OR Visit the Weitzman Institute in Rehovot to
learn of the impressive accomplishments of Israel's top science university.
Group may split: At Independence Hall, relive Ben Gurion's moving
declaration of the State OR At the Hagana Museum, learn of the
many achievements of this pre-State fighting force. Group may split:
Enjoy an impressive presentation of the amazing achievements of the
Palmach at the multi-media Palmach Museum (if available; age 5 and
up only) OR Visit the Eretz Yisrael Museum to learn all about local life
and culture during earlier historical periods. Stroll through the craft
market at Nahalat Binyamin and see modern Tel Aviv in action (time
permitting) Free evening in Tel Aviv.

| Wednesday, 15 July- Layers of History
|
Depart for Israel's north. Walk through the fascinating, underground
Roman water system that once fed ancient Caesaria at Alona Park
near Binyamina (strap-on water shoes needed; time/energy permitting)
Visit the ancient, magnificently excavated city of Tzippori, home to
Rabbi Judah the Prince, and see beautiful mosaics and other finds
from the time of the Mishna. In Tiberias, visit Dona Gracia House to
become acquainted with the fascinating life of this 16th century
Jewish heroine and Tiberias financial leader via dramatic story-telling,
short film, dress-up in period clothing. Hotel check-in and dinner

| Thursday, 16 July - The Golan Heights
|
Take part in a moving Bar/Bat Mitzvah service in the ancient synagogue
of Katzrin. At the peak of Har Bental, enter army bunkers and
take in a panoramic view at the crossroads of three countries
Take a nature walk through the scenic Saluki Springs for a view of
ruins of both a Hasmonean village and a Syrian army encampment; dip
your toes in cool natural waters. Free time for lunch (on one's own) in
Katzrin, capital of the Golan. Travel through the Golan Heights by
jeep (Shvilim), stopping to gaze down over the Galilee as the Syrians
once did. At the picturesque Kinneret Cemetery; read the moving
poetry of the pioneer, Rachel the Poetess, and of Naomi Shemer -
first lady of Israeli song "on site" Take a Kinneret boat ride, followed
by a delicious lakeshore dinner at Decks.

| Friday, 17 July - Ascent to Jerusalem
|
| Tour the synagogues, courtyards, and shops of the mystical city of
Tzefat. Travel south for the ascent to Jerusalem. Gaze upon the
Temple Mount from Mount Scopus; take in the breathtaking view.
Hotel check-in to swim, prepare for Shabbat. Kabbalat Shabbat at

"walk" through the ancient Temple Mount at the Davidson Center

stones OR Visit the Menahem Begin Heritage Center for a
highly moving and informative presentation on the life of this inspiring
leader (to be escorted by Rabbi or Ellen Nesson) AND (time permitting)
Be let in on a little-known secret from the War of Independence
at the Cable Car Museum. Free time for lunch (on one's own) and
shopping in the Jewish Quarter. Take in a rooftop view of the Old
City's four colorful quarters. Travel through many centuries as you
explore the Jewish Quarter, including entrance to the Burnt House

| Tuesday, 21 July - Freedom Fighters or Fanatics?
|
Early departure to ascend Masada by cable car. Tour this magnificent
excavation and a discussion of the terrible dilemma faced by its
Jewish Zealot population. Enjoy a walk through the beautiful Ein Gedi
nature reserve and review the biblical story of kings David and Saul
that took place there "on site" . Take a dip and enjoy mud baths at
the amazing Dead Sea. Enjoy a camel trek and biblical hospitality with
a delicious dinner in Abraham's tent in the Judean Desert at Eretz
Bereshit.

Group may split: At Archeological Seminar's "Dig for a Day" program
at Beit Guvrin, uncover actual artifacts as you participate in an ongoing
archeological dig. Spelunking also available for the adventurous OR
Tour other excavated caves at Beit Guvrin. Spend this afternoon visiting
with Ethiopian friends in the Ramat Eliyahu neighborhood of
Rishon Letzion. Return to Jerusalem for a free evening

| Thursday, 23 July - In the Footsteps of Kings and Prophets
|
| Visit the site of the ancient fortress of Herodian, built by Herod and
used by Jewish fighting forces throughout the ages; also the site of
an ancient synagogue and King Herod's newly discovered tomb
Enjoy a tour of the special community of Tekoa and home hospitality
for coffee and cake with a Tekoa family. Learn about the history of
the defense of Gush Etzion in a moving multi-media presentation at
Kibbutz Kfar Etzion. Visit the Naot Sandal factory in Kibbutz Kfar
Etzion and perhaps take home some of this classic Israeli footwear
Return to Jerusalem and stop at the Haas Promenade, as did Abraham
at the dawn of Jewish history, to bid farewell to Jerusalem
Free time this afternoon for final shopping, packing. Farewell dinner
and dancing at the hotel with musical entertainment.
