Late afternoon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport to be met and assisted by your ITC representative. Ascent to Jerusalem Gaze upon the Temple Mount from the Tayelet, as did our forefather, Abraham, when he prepared to sacrifice Isaac. Take in the breathtaking view. Hotel check-in and orientation. Welcome dinner at the hotel

Monday, 30 June - Jerusalem Tapestry
Meet with Rabbi Ron Kronish of ICCY (Interreligious Coordinating Council of Israel; website: www\icci\org.il) and a Muslim colleague to discuss the interreligious dialoging efforts of this organization or to meet with some of their Muslim constituents (if available; honoraria not included in tour cost) Take in a rooftop view of the four quarters of the Old City of Jerusalem. Free time for lunch (on one's own) and shopping in the Jewish Quarter. Encounter some of the most painful and burning issues facing Israeli society at Museum on the Seam. Spend some time this afternoon visiting the Hartman Institute and taking part in a study session there (cost, if any, not included in tour price) Dinner at the hotel in a private room with a speaker

Tuesday, 1 July - Modern Jerusalem
Study session at Elul, a pluralistic Jerusalem yeshiva, on the subject of intellectual pluralism (cost, if any, not included in tour price) Take a special, in-depth tour of the Security Fence in the Jerusalem area; meet with the IDF Border Patrol soldiers who guard Jerusalem's borders and holy places; bring them some "goodies" (suggestions to be provided) Drive along Jerusalem's former border with Jordan, pre- 1967. Tour the architectural wonder of the Supreme Court building and focus on Israel's justice system Free time for dinner (on one's own) Evening: Optional walk along the Western Wall's massive foundation stones in the Kotel Tunnels

Wednesday, 2 July - Tel Aviv and Tikkun Olam
Travel to TLV. At the Weitzman Institute see how today's scientists are trained for tomorrow and witness Israel's cutting-edge technology at the Crown Human Genome Center. Enjoy an impressive presentation of the amazing achievements of the Palmach at the new multi-media Palmach Museum (if available) At Independence Hall, relive Ben Gurion's moving declaration of the State. Visit Bet Tefillah Yisraeli, a pluralistic prayer community in Tel Aviv and meet with members (or with the progressive community in Modi'in) Home hospitality dinner with families from the community (not included in tour price)

Thursday, 3 July - Diversity in the Negev
Visit the Jo Alon Bedouin Museum - Take their "Desert Wind Tour," which includes a drive from Bet Kama to Rahat to view the Rahat Village and learn about Bedouin culture. Proceed to Jo Alon Museum for an informative film and then continue the discussion over pita and labane in a Bedouin tent At Moshav Nevatim, home to Cochini Jews from India, visit their impressive synagogue brought over from India and their small community museum (time permitting) Visit Kibbutz Erez in Metrowest's Partnership 2000 region and meet with members. Free evening in Jerusalem

Friday, 4 July - Freedom Fighters or Fanatics?
Early departure for Masada. Ascent by cable car for a tour of this magnificent excavation and a discussion of the terrible dilemma faced by its Jewish population during Roman times. Visit the new, state-of-the-art Masada Museum Spend this afternoon at a Dead Sea resort hotel, enjoying its spa facilities, lunch, and the amazing Dead Sea Enjoy a walk through the beautiful Ein Gedi Nature Reserve and hear the biblical story of kings David and Saul that took place there "on site"(time permitting) Return to Jerusalem to prepare for Shabbat Kabbalat Shabbat at Robinson's Arch (if available; must depart an hour after Shabbat comes in) Festive Shabbat dinner at the hotel

Shabbat, 5 July - Shabbat in Jerusalem
Reconstructionist Shabbat services at HUC, followed by kiddush and an (optional) tour of the facility Torah study session at HUC. Sumptuous Shabbat buffet lunch at the hotel. Visit the new Shrine of the Book and the newly reopened Second Temple Model of Jerusalem at the Israel Museum. Shabbat rest Free evening in Jerusalem

Sunday, 6 July - Layers of History
Depart for Israel's north. Walk through the fascinating, underground Roman water system that once fed ancient Caesaria at Alona Park near Binyamina (strap-on water shoes, small towel needed) Travel north to Acco, a city of three religions: Visit several of the following: the Crusader fortress; the new exhibit at the adjacent Turkish Baths; the amazing Tunisian Synagogue in Acco, which is completely decorated with mosaics depicting stories from Jewish history and traditional texts; the British prison, where Jewish freedom fighters were incarcerated. Hotel check-in and dinner. Evening: Home hospitality for dessert at the homes of kibbutz members.

Monday, 7 July - Religious Diversity in Israel's North
Tour the synagogues, courtyards, and shops of the mystical city of Tzefat. Visit Har Halutz, a Progressive Movement community near Karmiel, and learn about the joys and challenges of their life in the Galilee. Tour the Hula Valley Nature Reserve, where tens of thousands of migratory birds pass and other species roam (time permitting) Return to the hotel for final packing, summary session. Farewell lakeshore dinner at Decks (steak) on the Kinneret. Depart for the airport for overnight return flight to USA
