Sunday, August 24 - In the Footsteps of Jewish Mystics
Travel north along Israel's newest highway, with a view of the Security Fence along the way. Enjoy a tour of the mystical city of Tzefat, including cheese-tasting at the gourmet Meiri Cheese Company, housed in a Tzefat heritage building, and a special, hands-on Jewish handicrafts program in Tzefat's artist colony. Glide down the Jordan River in a kayak or raft. Enjoy a terrific lakeshore dinner at the Chinese Pagoda

Monday, August 25 - The Golan Heights
Plant a tree in Israeli soil in honor or in memory of a loved one. Travel by jeep, off the beaten track, through the Golan Heights. At Kibbutz El Rom, see original footage from the brave Valley of Tears Kahalani battle, which secured the Golan Heights during the Yom Kippur War Group may split: Taste the fruits of the region in the form of award-winning wines at the Golan Winery OR Ascend to the peak of Har Bental, where you can enter army bunkers and take in a panoramic view at the crossroads of three countries. Enjoy a Lake Kinneret boat ride followed by a delicious lakeshore dinner at Decks Restaurant

Tuesday, August 26 - The Jordan River Valley
Travel south, stopping at the ancient Beit Alpha Synagogue to examine its striking mosaic floor; enjoy a short, amusing film about plans to renovate this ancient synagogue two millennia ago. Enjoy a swim in the wondrous natural pools at Sachne, fed by underground springs. Visit the excavation of Kumran, home of the mysterious ancient sect that authored the Dead Sea scrolls. Wednesday, August 27 - Freedom Fighters or Fanatics?
Early departure for the ascent by cable car to the mountain fortress of Masada for a tour of this amazing excavation and a discussion of the terrible dilemma faced by its Jewish population during Roman times, including entry to the new Masada Museum. Return to our hotel to enjoy its spa facilities and the amazing Dead Sea. Optional: take a hike in either Nahal David or Nahal Arugot at the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve. Early evening: enjoy a camel trek through the desert and a delicious dinner and Bedouin hospitality (kosher of course!) in a Bedouin tent. Evening: Take in the Sound and Light Show at the foot of Masada

Thursday, August 28 - Ascent to Jerusalem
Depart for the Negev Desert. Visit Congregation Magen Avraham in Omer, Beth Shalom's Israeli sister synagogue Ascent to Jerusalem. Gaze upon the Temple Mount from the Tayelet, as did Abraham when he prepared to sacrifice Isaac; take in the breathtaking view. Take part in an enjoyable, family-friendly "scavenger hunt" program as you explore Jerusalem's Ketef Hinom and Yemin Moshe neighborhoods (ITC program) OR At the Israel Museum, tour the new Shrine of the Book; the newly reopened Second Temple Model of Jerusalem; the children's wing (optional); art, archeology, and Judaica exhibits; and the Billy Rose Sculpture Garden. Hotel check-in for a free evening in Jerusalem.
