Monday, 25 June – Foundations of the Modern State
At Independence Hall, relive Ben Gurion’s moving declaration of
the State. Walk through the historic Tel Aviv neighborhood of

including a possible visit to the new Masorti Center; continue
to Shuk Hacarmel and Rabin Square. Enjoy an extremely
impressive presentation of the amazing achievements of the
Palmach at the new multi-media Palmach Museum (age 6 and up
only; if available) Visit the Museum of the Diaspora for a special
encounter with Jewish communities around the world and

Tuesday, 26 June – Layers of History
See ancient history come to life at the multi-media center
against the backdrop of ancient Casesaria. Excavations include
an impressive amphitheatre and aqueduct. Take in a wonderful
overview of the Carmel region at Mukhraka-Keren HaCarmel,
where Elijah the Prophet faced off against the prophets of
Ba’al. Take a panoramic bus tour of the sparkling port city of
Haifa, including views of the spectacular Bahai Gardens

Wednesday, 27 June –Tzefat and the Golan Heights
Visit the ancient synagogue of Hammat Tiberias, featuring a
fascinating mosaic floor. See the first century Galilee boat,
excavated from Lake Kinneret, and hear its story. Tour the
synagogues, courtyards, and art galleries of the mystical city
of Tzefat. Ascend the Golan Heights; gaze down over the
Galilee as the Syrians once did. Enjoy a tour, tasting, and a
chocolate-making workshop at the delicious chocolate factory
at Kibbutz Ein Zivan, run by immigrants from Argentina. Glide
down the Jordan River in a kayak. Free time for dinner (on
one’s own) on the Tiberias promenade

Thursday, 28 June – The Jordan River Valley
Drive south along Israel’s border with Jordan
Tour the remarkable excavations of the ancient Roman city of
Beit Shean, including a magnificent Cardo, Roman baths, residences,
and amphitheatre. Visit the excavation of Kumran,
home of the mysterious ancient sect that authored the Dead
Sea Scrolls. Enjoy a walk through the beautiful Ein Gedi
Nature Reserve to the waterfall and review the biblical story
of kings David and Saul “on site” . Conclude the day with a
twilight “float” in the mineral-rich Dead Sea.

Friday, 29 June – Freedom Fighters or Fanatics?
Ascend Masada by cable car or the snake path, tour this
impressive excavation and discuss the terrible dilemma faced
by its Jewish population during Roman times. Descend Masada
by the Roman Ramp. Drive through the Judean and Negev
deserts to the southern coastal city of Ashkelon. Kabbalat

and enjoy sloshing through Hezekiah’s water tunnel (strap-on
water shoes and flashlights needed) Free time for lunch (on
one’s own) in the Cardo in the Jewish Quarter. Explore the
Southern Wall Excavations and learn more about the ancient
Jerusalem Temple at the Davidson Center. In the Kotel
Tunnels, walk alongside the massive foundation stones of the
Western Wall. Walk along the Via Dolorosa to the Church of
