Going up into the Land

Arrive in Israel to be met and assisted by your ITC representative. Tour the alleys of Old Jaffa, the ancient port city once known as the Gate of Zion. Shekhiyanu-Welcome ceremony on top of Tel Jaffa overlooking modern Tel Aviv.
Check-in to the Metropolitan Hotel on Tel Aviv’s Mediterranean Coast. Welcome dinner and orientation at Maganda Yemenite Restuarant.

Monday, 26 December

The Hebrew City and the Jewish State

Walking tour of historic “Little Tel Aviv” – Discover the quaint Neve Tzeddek neighbourhood that gave birth to the “first Hebrew city in 2,000 years”. Relive David Ben Gurion declaring the new State of Israel at Independence Hall. Hear about the birth of Tel Aviv standing at the Founders Monument on Rothschild Boulevard. Then stroll down the Boulevard to see the Bauhaus architecture for which central Tel Aviv was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch on own.

Visit the Palmach Museum for a multi-media presentation about the elite underground organization that played a critical role in founding the State of Israel. Visit the “Aliyah Bet” Memorial in London Square to hear the story of the illegal immigration operations which rescued Jewish refugees before the founding of the State of Israel. Light Chanukah candles together as a community before setting our for a free evening Dinner on own.

Tuesday, 27 December

Roman Caesarea and Mystical Tzfat

Depart for northern Israel. Visit the ruins of Caesarea, including its Roman Theater, Amphitheater, Hippodrome and Promontory Palace. Ponder a rabbinic debate over Jews attending gladiator games. Lunch on own Travel to Haifa and look out over surrounding reagion from top of Bahai Gardens. Tour of the Old City of Acco – Venture beneath the streets of present day Acco to explore the Crusader Knights Halls. Dinner at hotel. Check in to Nof Ginosar Hotel on Kibbutz Ginosar by the Sea of Galilee. Chanukah candle lighting.

Wednesday, 28 December

Ancient and Modern Geopolitics and Israel’s Finest

Walk in the lush Tel Dan Nature Reserve, one of the sources of the Jordan River, where you’ll discover biblical intrigue and one of the oldest arches in the world. Lunch on own. Tour of the Golan Heights to gain a special a perspective on Israel’s complex geopolitics “looking down at Israel” from abandoned bunkers the way the Syrian army once did and standing on the peak of strategic Mt. Bental. Barbeque dinner and Chanukah candle lighting on an Israeli army base with young soldiers who are giving some of the best years of their lives to the defense of Israel.

Thursday, 29 December

Cradles of Jewish Civilization in the Galilee

Depart for northern Israel. Explore ancient Tzippori and study Jewish texts in the ruins of the city where Rabbi Judah Hanasi sealed the Mishna. Discover its magnificent mosaics, including Mona Lisa of the Galilee and ponder why an ancient synagogue floor features a wheel of the zodiac. Lunch on own. Tour the old synagogues and picturesque alleyways of the mystical city of Tzfat and discover the origins of our Friday night service where Lecha Dodi was written. Boat ride on the Sea of Galilee and dinner at Decks lakeside restaurant. Check–in to the Nof Ginosar Hotel on Kibbutz Ginosar by the Sea of Galilee.

Friday, 30 December

The Jordan River Valley

Discover Ethiopian Jewish culture at the Germachin Center in Beit Shean. Learn about Ethiopian Jewry’s modern day Exodus story and the challenges facing the Ethiopian Israeli community today. Drive south along Israel‛s border with Jordan Tour the ruins of Qumran caves, where some of the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Check-in to the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dead Sea.
Swim in the Dead Sea and experience the remarkable buoyancy of the lowest place on the face of the earth. Dinner at hotel.

Saturday, 31 December

Masada and the Dead Sea

Set out across the Judean Desert and ascend Masada by cable car to tour the ruins of Herod’s palace and the last outpost of Jewish independence 2,000 years ago. Discussion: Which Jewish Legacy – Masada or Yavne?
Lunch on own. Walk in Ein Gedi Nature Reserve – Opportunity to bath in waterfall in the desert oasis where David hid from King Saul.
Travel to Jerusalem. Check in to Prima Royale Hotel or Prima Kings Hotel in Jerusalem. Havdalah and Chanukah candle lighting with Rabbis Mills Free evening. Dinner on own. Recommendation for the evening: Visit the First Station Compound, Jerusalem’s restored Ottoman railway station turned restaurant – cafe area.

The Old City of Jerusalem

An Ancient Jewish Legacy – Discover the archaeological story of the Western Wall and episodes of Jewish life 2,000 years ago at Robinson’s Arch and the Southern Wall Excavations. Visit the Western Wall and connect to an ancient Jewish legacy. Walk through the Western Wall Tunnels to discover underground Jerusalem. Lunch on own. Visit to the Israel Museum to see the Dead Sea Scrolls in the Shrine of the Book and the Model of Jerusalem in the first century. Free time to explore additional exhibitions on own – Recommendations: Modern Israeli art, Synagogue interiors in the Judaica section and the Archaeology Wing. Free evening.

Monday, 2 January

Holocaust, Remembrance and Continuity

Tour of Yad Vashem – Israel’s national Holocaust memorial and museum, including the Holocaust History Museum and Children‛s Memorial. Lunch on own. Lunch on own. Meaningful visit to Mt. Herzl Cemetery to discover chapters in the history of Israel while visiting the graves of Yitzhak Rabin, Golda Meir, Theordore Herzl and Hannah Senesch. Visit the Knesset to learn about Israel’s democratic system. Dinner on own in Jerusalem’s Mamilla Quarter. Watch the Night Spectacular – Sound and light show at the Tower of David. Recommendation: If you still have energy, Check out the Ben Yehuda Street Pedestrian Mall in downtown Jerusalem.

Excavating the Past and Departure

Tour of Jewish Quarter including the Herodian Mansions, Cardo, Broad Wall and Rooftops followed by free time to shop and explore on own. Visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in the Christian Quarter.
Remainder of afternoon free to pack, relax and get in last minute shopping. Late check out. Farewell Dinner at Olive and Fish Restaurant. ְל ִה ְת ָראֹו ת !
