Miami – Cienfuegos – (L,D) – Departure from Miami to Cuba

Arrival in Cienfuegos airport where we will meet our guide and bus driver from Havana Tours who will be traveling with us throughout our stay in Cuba. Drive to Cienfuegos Check-in at Hotel Jagua. Afternoon tour of Cienfuegos which was founded by French immigrants from Bordeaux and Louisiana in 1819. Tour will include the Thomas Terry Theater, bay of Cienfuegos and Palacio del Valle – an impressive Moorish-style building. Evening performance by the Cienfuegos Choir.

Thursday, February 9

Cienfuegos – Trinidad – Cienfuegos (B, L)

Travel to Trinidad which was founded on 1514 and it is one of the best preserved colonial cities in the Caribbean from the time when the sugar trade was the main industry in the region. Visit to Plaza Mayor, the historic center of the town, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1988. The buildings surrounding the central square date from the 18th and 19th centuries when trade in sugar and slaves brought riches to the area. Return to Cienfuegos; attend a performance by the children of La Colmenita. La Colmenita was developed with the purpose of conveying a message of peace, humanity and forgiveness. As official UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, the children of La Colmenita are required to demonstrate these values not only in their performances but in their daily lives. Dinner on your own (TBA) ;

Friday, February 10

Cienfuegos – Havana (B, L,D)

Stop in Santa Clara (1 1⁄2 hour drive. We will stop in Santa Clara in central Cuba and meet with members of the Jewish Community Continue to the Jewish cemetery, which serves the communities of Santa Clara, and Cienfuegos. The cemetery was recently restored and an impressive memorial to the victims of the Holocaust was erected, Invite for Lunch members of the community and their leader David Tacher. Arrive Havana ,Meet the President of The Jewish Community of Cuba, Dr. Adela Dworin. Check in at the hotel. Kabbalat Shabbat at the Patronato – Beth Shalom Synagogue founded in 1959. We will stay for Kiddush with the community members at La Patronato. Shabbat Dinner at the hotel.

Saturday, February 11

Havana (B, L)

You will have the option of participating in Shabbat Morning Services at The Patronato or the Sephardic synagogue.
Spend Shabbat afternoon exploring the city, interact with residents to learn about their daily lives or relax at the hotel. An Architectural tour is available upon request (Fee to be paid before Shabbat) Free evening, dinner on your own (the guide will help you arranging reservations in restaurants) Optional Famous Tropicana Cabaret in Cuba ( for an additional cost of $115 per person).

Sunday, February 12

Havana (B, L)

Visit Old Jewish quarters in Old Havana. Guided tour of the Museum of Fine Arts. The museum houses the best collection of Cuban art in the world. Visit the crafts and arts market. A performance of Nacional Ballet of Cuba (Optional $35.00) if they are in town. Visit Fabrica De Arte or other exciting places in old Havana. Dinner on your own.

Monday, February 13

Havana (B, L)

Visit a Cigar factory. Havana is the birthplace of premium cigars and touring a Cuban cigar factory is a journey back in time. Visit the Jewish cemetery. Visit Hemingway’s home Finca Vigia, and learn about the restoration project. Visit the Sephardic Synagogue. Meet with the President of the Sephardic Hebrew Center Dr. Mayra Levi. Visit the senior day center and the Holocaust exhibit that is housed in the synagogue. 10:00 PM Buena Vista Social Club concert (optional for an additional cost of $35)

Tuesday, February 14

Walking tour of Old Havana. Visit the Beth Shalom synagogue and learn about the history of Judaism in Cuba.
Visit studio of José Rodríguez Fuster, a Cuban naïve artist specializing in ceramics, painting, drawing, engraving and graphic design. Classic car cruise to dinner. Farewell Dinner at a Paladar ( private restaurant )

Havana – Miami

Breakfast at hotel, Transfer to the airport after breakfast for our non-stop charter flight back to Miami.
