Arrival at Ben Gurion Airport to be met and assisted by your ITC representative.
Please choose one for the group: Climb down into the amazing underground, pre-State bullet factory built by the Haganah under the noses of the British at the Ayalon Institute OR Explore the pathways, art galleries, and market stalls of Old Jaffa, once the gateway to the Land of Israel; review the biblical story of Jonah the Prophet on site. Proceed to the modern Hebrew city of Tel Aviv. Hotel check-in and welcome dinner.

Foundations of the Modern State

Enjoy an extremely impressive presentation of the amazing achievements of the Palmach at the new multi-media Palmach Museum (if available; age 6 and up only) At Independence Hall, relive Ben Gurion’s moving declaration of the State. Visit the new Masorti Center in Neve Tzedek and then walk through this historic Tel Aviv neighborhood, a UNESCO Heritage Site, replete with funky new shops and art galleries. Browse through unique craft items in Nahalat Binyamin‛s colorful, open-air market and enjoy modern Tel Aviv in action. Evening option: Enjoy dinner at Café Kapish, served by deaf waiters who will teach you sign language during your meal followed by Na Laga‛at, a unique play performed by actors who are both deaf and blind (advance registration required; not included in tour price)

Layers of History

See ancient history come to life at the multi-media center against the backdrop of ancient Caesarea. Excavations include an impressive amphitheatre and aqueduct. Take a seminar-tour of Masorti Kibbutz Hannaton, as you explore dilemmas faced by kibbutz members in its period of revival. Lunch in the kibbutz dining room. Tour the synagogues, courtyards, and shops of the mystical city of Tzefat Continue to the Galilee Panhandle for hotel check-in. Dinner at the hotel.

The Galilee and the Golan Heights

Ascend the Golan Heights and stop to gaze down over the Galilee as the Syrians once did Travel back to the time of the Talmud as you visit the excavated Talmudic Village in Katzrin; moving Bar/Bat Mitzvah service in Katzrin‛s ancient synagogue. Enjoy a tour, tasting, and a chocolate-making workshop at the delicious chocolate factory at Kibbutz Ein Zivan, run by immigrants from Argentina. Visit a modern dairy farm where you can bottle-feed the calves and also try your hand at varieties of olive oil and fresh chocolate milk Glide down the Jordan River in a kayak or raft (age 5 or over) Option to return to Hagoshrim to relax, enjoy hotel pool and other facilities.

From the Galilee to Jerusalem

Bid farewell to the Galilee as you plant a tree in Israeli soil, in honor or in memory of a loved one; share something special with the group about the person in whose honor/memory you are planting. Travel south along Israel’s border with Jordan
Take a fascinating agricultural bio-tour at Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu, pioneers in organic farming; hear about workshops they run for Jordanian farmers in using owls for pest control; meet the creatures they use for weed control. Ascent to Jerusalem. Gaze upon the Old City of Jerusalem from Mount Scopus; take in the breathtaking view. Kabbalat Shabbat at a choice of neighborhood synagogues (suggestions, walking directions to be provided)

Shabbat in Jerusalem

Shabbat morning services at a local synagogue – To be determined by Rabbi Seed.
Shabbat lunch and Dvar Torah at the Fuchsberg Center for Conservative Judaism. Optional: Late afternoon walking tour. Havdalah with Rabbi Seed, followed by a free evening in Jerusalem.

Freedom Fighters or Fanatics?

Depart for the Dead Sea Region, the lowest place on earth
First time Israel visitors. Ascend to Masada by cable car; tour this magnificent excavation and a discussion of the terrible dilemma faced by its Jewish population during Roman times. Take a walk through the beautiful Ein Gedi Nature Reserve to the waterfall and hear the biblical story of kings David and Saul that took place “on site” Lunch at Ein Gedi Spa. Enjoy for an unsinkable swim and mud baths at the amazing Dead Sea. Repeat Israel visitors
Spend some time today at a Dead Sea resort hotel, enjoying its spa facilities, lunch, and the amazing Dead Sea. Everybody together

Take part in a moving Bar/Bat Mitzvah service at Robinson’s Arch

The “Masorti Kotel”.
Explore the Southern Wall Excavations and learn more about the ancient Temple at the Davidson Center. In the Kotel Tunnels, walk alongside the massive foundation stones of the Western Wall. Travel through many centuries as you tour the Jewish Quarter, including the ancient Cardo and the ancient excavated homes of Temple priests at the Herodian Mansions. Discover lost artifacts by engaging in hands-on dig through archeological work sifting debris that was removed, amid controversy, from the Temple Mount.

Making a Difference

Visit Yad Lakashish, a unique employment project helping Jerusalem’s elderly, including a stop in its shop “where shopping is a mitzvah!” Drive along Jerusalem’s former border with Jordan, pre-1967. At Ammunition Hill, see a terrific new audio-video presentation about the fierce Six Day War battle for Jerusalem; enter former Jordanian bunkers. Visit the new Holocaust Memorial Museum (age 12 and up only) and the Children’s Memorial at Yad Vashem. Alternative for younger children: At the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo, enjoy meeting the animals that roamed this land during Bible times (accompanied by adult/s; ). Meaningful visit to the Mt. Herzl Military Cemetery to discover chapters in the history of modern Israel – Learn the meaning of the Silver Platter. Visit the Israel Museum, including the Shrine of the Book and the Second Temple Model of Jerusalem. Time permitting – Explore other exhibits on own such as Judaica, modern Israeli art, and archeology.
